Accessibility Statement
Three Dollar Easy Traffic School is committed to providing a website and online course that are accessible to the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities. This statement describes the standards to which we conform, the accessibility features available to students, known limitations, and how to request assistance or report an accessibility concern.
Our Commitment
Three Dollar Easy Traffic School targets conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the benchmark referenced by the California Department of Technology Statewide Information Management Manual (SIMM) 25-B and by the U.S. Department of Justice in its technical assistance on state and local government web accessibility.
We apply the WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criteria to all student-facing content produced by the school, including the course modules, the final examination interface, the student dashboard, and the certificate download page. We also require that contractors and third-party service providers meet these standards in the portions of the student experience they produce.
Standards and Legal Framework
The accessibility program at Three Dollar Easy Traffic School is designed to satisfy the following standards and legal obligations.
- Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA — the technical standard for web accessibility adopted by California and by the federal government.
- Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended (29 U.S.C. §794d), and the Revised Section 508 standards (36 C.F.R. Part 1194), which incorporate WCAG 2.0 Level AA by reference.
- California accessibility guidance, including the standards used by public agencies for clear structure, keyboard access, readable content, and assistive technology support.
- Titles II and III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (42 U.S.C. §§12131 et seq. and §§12181 et seq.) and the 2024 U.S. Department of Justice final rule on state and local government web accessibility.
- Unruh Civil Rights Act (Civil Code §51), which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in the full and equal access to services offered in California.
Accessibility Features
The course and website include the following features designed to support students with a range of disabilities and reading needs.
Visual adjustments
- High contrast theme: A toggle in the accessibility menu increases foreground-to-background contrast throughout the course to exceed the 7:1 ratio required by WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 1.4.6 (Enhanced Contrast).
- Adjustable text size: The accessibility menu provides three text size levels (standard, large, and extra large) without loss of content or functionality, consistent with WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 1.4.4 (Resize Text).
- OpenDyslexic font option: Students may switch the course typeface to OpenDyslexic, a typeface designed to reduce letter reversal and confusion for readers with dyslexia.
- Reduced motion: The site respects the
prefers-reduced-motionuser agent preference, disabling non-essential animations for users who have configured their operating system accordingly.
Screen reader and assistive technology support
- Semantic HTML5 landmarks (
header, nav, main, footer) on every page. - ARIA labels and states on interactive controls, progress indicators, and course navigation components.
- Descriptive alternative text for all informational images and empty alternative text for decorative images.
- Closed captions and full text transcripts for all audio and video content in the course modules.
- Meaningful page titles and heading structures tested with the NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver screen readers.
Keyboard navigation
- Every interactive element is reachable and operable through the keyboard alone, consistent with WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 2.1.1 (Keyboard).
- A "Skip to main content" link appears first in the tab order on every page, allowing users to bypass the site chrome.
- Focus indicators meet or exceed the 3:1 contrast ratio required by WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 2.4.7 (Focus Visible), and focus order follows the logical reading order of the page.
- The final examination timer may be extended on request as a reasonable accommodation.
Plain language and readability
- Content is written at a reading level appropriate for a general adult audience, consistent with the California Department of Technology plain language guidance.
- Legal citations, defined terms, and abbreviations are introduced with their full names the first time they appear on a page.
Compatibility
The site is tested and supported on the following environments.
- Browsers: The two most recent major versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Apple Safari on desktop operating systems, and the current versions of Safari for iOS and Chrome for Android on mobile operating systems.
- Screen readers: NVDA (with Firefox and Chrome on Windows), JAWS (with Chrome and Edge on Windows), VoiceOver (with Safari on macOS and iOS), and TalkBack (with Chrome on Android).
- Operating systems: Windows 10 and later, macOS 12 and later, iOS 15 and later, Android 10 and later.
Known Accessibility Limitations
Despite our efforts, the following items may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA at this time. We are actively working to remediate each item.
- Legacy still images in archived modules: A limited number of instructional images uploaded before 2024 may have descriptive, but not fully programmatic, alternative text. Replacement images with fully compliant alternative text are being produced and will be deployed as modules are updated on their scheduled content-review cycle.
- Printable certificate of completion (PDF): The downloadable certificate of completion is generated as a PDF and is currently tagged only at a basic level. An equivalent HTML version is available from the student dashboard and fully meets WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
- Third-party payment checkout: The Stripe payment checkout page is hosted and maintained by Stripe, Inc. Stripe publishes its own accessibility conformance report, and we continually evaluate the checkout experience to ensure that students are not required to use an inaccessible element.
If a particular course component prevents you from completing an activity, contact us for an accessible alternative. We will provide an equivalent experience or accept an alternative method of demonstrating completion, consistent with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Third-Party Content Disclaimer
Portions of the site rely on third-party services that are maintained outside of Three Dollar Easy Traffic School. Third-party elements include the following.
- Stripe payment checkout: Payment information is collected directly by Stripe, Inc. on its secure, PCI-compliant checkout pages.
- Downloadable PDF certificates: Certificates of completion are generated in PDF format using jsPDF. An equivalent plain-text record is always available from the student dashboard.
- External links: Links to dmv.ca.gov, ca.gov, leginfo.legislature.ca.gov, and other government sites are provided for reference. Those sites maintain their own accessibility policies.
We do not control the accessibility of third-party sites, but we will work with students who encounter an accessibility barrier in a third-party component to provide an accessible alternative.
Alternative Format Requests
Students may request course materials in an accessible alternative format. Available formats include:
- Plain text transcripts of instructional videos and audio narration.
- Large print versions of printed materials (18-point or larger).
- Readable, tagged PDF versions of downloadable forms.
- Accessible alternatives to any interactive element that does not work with your assistive technology.
Requests should be submitted to accessibility@3dollareasytrafficschool.com and include the specific materials needed and the format requested. We will respond within five business days with the requested materials or, if production will take additional time, with a target delivery date.

Continuous Improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing commitment rather than a fixed endpoint. We audit the site annually using an independent accessibility consultant, and we conduct monthly internal reviews using automated accessibility testing tools and manual testing with assistive technologies. When we update or add content, we verify the new content against WCAG 2.1 Level AA before publication. We also train our content authors, designers, and developers on accessible design practices, and we incorporate student feedback received through the channels listed above into our remediation backlog.
The school's accessibility coordinator reports on conformance status at least annually. Significant changes to this statement, to our compliance status, or to the accessibility features available to students are announced on this page and, where applicable, through email to enrolled students.
